Since the grand opening in 1987, for 25 years the National Theater and Concert Hall (NTCH) has been the iconic figure in Taiwanese art society, which took off by the wings of our culture and art. After a quarter of the century, this time we proudly present a significant event, Moments on Stage: Exposition of the National Theater and Concert Hall Stage Design and Theater Techniques, which will set the milestone for our organization. We would like to welcome you for joining this journey that will bring you back to all the glamorous moments on the stage.
This retrospective exposition in our National Theater Grand Foyers and Concert Hall Culture Gallery tells the story about the stage design and technical execution from staging, lighting to props and costumes in our house-production selections for the past 25 years. The main attraction of this event in the Grand Foyers will simulate the space and time on the stage by the installation of the mechanical system and multimedia projections. This installation will reveal the whimsical moments on the stage that cross between the illusion and reality. The grand stairs at the both sides of the Grand Foyers will also exhibit the costumes from numerous legendary productions. In the Concert Hall Culture Gallery, it is all about the designers and their efforts. The working environment of the lighting designer, stage designer, costume designer and stage manager will be re-built in our gallery, so that the participants can really appreciate the performance on the stage is also a collaborative efforts from the designers and technical executives behind the scene. The screen wall section will also present the documentary about the designer and their backstage life.
During this exposition, we will invite many experts in theater to lead the tours and forums, so that the public can has a new way to appreciate the NTCH.
The NTCH celebrates our 25th anniversary, and it is our pleasure to have you with us to witness the achievements we have accomplished on the stage and off the stage for the past 25 years.

From 1987, for 25 years, National Theater and Concert Hall (NTCH) has produced so many spectacular works. Theater, Concert Hall, Experimental Theater and Recital Hall made the variety of style and genre possible and continuously serve the feast of art for the Taiwanese audience and therefore elevate the general understanding of art in our society.
Other than the performance, NTCH also held all kinds of exhibitions from chronological retrospect to architecture introduction exhibitions. All the exhibitions, whether it is from the perceptive approach or historical sense, they were aiming for the same purpose that is to satisfy the curiosity of the audience.
Due to the limitations in video taping and documenting, early data in production, design and technical support did not have the chance to survive, even if a small portion among the old data did survive, the quality or spectrum were also damaged and incomplete. It is fair to say, the self-consciousness of the theater industry helped a lot in improving the situation by spontaneously documenting the related information in recent years.
We have acknowledged the difficulties in presenting the full picture of this splendid 25 years, therefore, Moments on Stage is more about the inspiration of the designer and the challenging process of the technical execution. This is an exposition more than an introduction of the historic documents, we are expecting the audience can really understand the designers and staff behind the curtain and witness their miraculous ability in filling the gaps between fantasy and reality. This is a chance for the public to step into the backstage and appreciate the passionate story about the designer and technicians.
